Rancho Camulos is a great place to bring your class to learn about California history. We describe the people who lived at Camulos, starting with the Native Americans, then the Californio del Valle family and later the Rubel family who purchased Camulos in 1924.  Camulos is the "Home of Ramona" and they will learn about how Helen Hunt Jackson's famous novel changed California forever.

The children will experience Camulos by visiting the 1853 adobe, the chapel, the fountain, the schoolhouse and the beautiful grounds.  They will learn how food was prepared in the rancho era, perform in a play in the schoolhouse, and make a real adobe brick like the bricks used to build the main adobe house.

After your tour, your class is welcome to have their lunch on our grounds and use our Gift Shop where items can be purchased for
 25 cents and up.

Teachers:  Please make your reservation soon by calling (805) 521-1501 as our 2008 calendar is filling up quickly.  Mention any subject you would like us to emphasize as it is our intent to compliment your teaching of local and California history.
